Works under the General Direction of the Emergency Medical Dispatch Supervisor to receive, prioritize and process a full range of 911 emergency and non-emergency calls from the public including, fires, hazardous materials, medical incidents and road traffic accidents in accordance with established standard operating policies and procedures. The post holder maintains accurate logs/records of all relevant activity in the Dispatch Center in accordance with Management practice and performs other related duties as necessary. The post has full autonomy as it relates to dispatching the appropriate medical and emergency services, as governed by policy and procedures. The post requires good situational awareness, critical thinking and decision making skills as it relates to dispatching and communication with fire service and emergency medical personnel as well as providing basic pre-arrival instructions to 911 callers to assist in the preservation of life and/or property before the responders arrive.

Requirements

A minimum of two (2) years’ experience operating in a computerized environment. Bermuda School Diploma (BSD) or equivalent. CPR certified and ability to facilitate CPR instructions via telephone. Computer literate including working MS Office Suite of Products and other Dispatch-related software applications. Working ability of computerized communications systems, including Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), two way radio, paging and mapping programs.
