Solid Waste Manager

The Solid Waste Manager is responsible for the management of the Waste Management Section, including the setting of policies/standards, the collection, disposal, processing and shipping of solid waste, special waste, and recyclable material in Bermuda in accordance with all relevant Acts, Legislation, and regulations. The post-holder also manages the personnel and financial aspects of the Section and provides leadership and training of the staff assigned to the Section. The post is responsible for the management and efficient operations of Bermuda's waste management facilities (excluding the Tynes Bay Waste-to-Energy Facility), including the Materials Recovery Facility, Sally Port Special Waste Facility, Marsh Folly Composting Facility, the Marsh Folly Collections Compound and the Airport Waste Management Facility. Works in close liaison with the management and staff of the Tynes Bay Waste-to-Energy Facility on common waste management issues. As the Government's most senior subject-matter expert on waste management, the post-holder must be able to work with a significant level of autonomy under the general direction of the Chief Engineer and within the policies established in the Ministry and broader Government context.
