The post holder works under the supervision of a Dental Officer, Dental Hygienist or Chief Dental Officer depending on the assigned functional area and is accountable for the successful delivery of clinical support and preventive services in the dental clinics, including all phases of assisting for general dental practice, individual or classroom oral health presentations, oral health surveillance, distribution of fluoride, and associated duties. The post holder also performs reception, administrative and data entry duties. The post holder has limited autonomy and is responsible for minor decisions within the department in relation to clinical maintenance and service facilitation. All clinical service decisions must be ratified by the supervising Dental Officer or Dental Hygienist or the Chief Dental Officer. The post holder may decide upon oral health education services to be delivered to an individual, facility or group. All decisions on oral health education content must be ratified by the Chief Dental Officer.

Requirements

Minimum one (1) year's relevant experience as a Dental Assistant. Certificate in Dental Assisting or equivalent. Must be a Registered/Certified Dental Assistant with current CPR certification.
