The post is accountable for establishing and implementing a strong vision for special education, and for the administrative and instructional leadership of special education in Bermuda's public schools system. The post holder will also be responsible for the transformation and administration of programs and services related to improved learning and achievement of all students through the provision of special education and student support programs and services in Bermuda's public school system. In addition, the post will be accountable for influencing the philosophy and practices in general education to support high student achievement of all learners in the public school system. The post is responsible for coordination, consultation and communication duties related to Student Services, and for carrying out any other duties to ensure the successful delivery of the programs and services. The decision-making authority held by this post is of a high level. The post holder is part of the senior leadership team of the Department of Education and is the most senior technical advisor for special education in the Government of Bermuda.
