Works on behalf of the Attorney-General in the Civil Advisory and Litigation Section within Chambers. The Junior Crown Counsel is responsible for drafting legal documents, providing legal advice, and litigating in the Magistrates and Supreme Courts on behalf of the Government of Bermuda, with special focus and shared responsibility for the recovery of debts relating to social insurance and tax related matters. The Junior Crown Counsel also assists with matters relating to the legal responsibilities of the Director of Child and Family Services, matters relating to the National Anti-Money Laundering Committee, and provides general assistance with matters relating to all other Ministries and Departments.

Requirements

Must be a qualified Barrister and/or Attorney of a Commonwealth jurisdiction, eligible to become a member of the Bermuda Bar Association and eligible to practice law in Bermuda. A minimum of 1 years' post-qualification experience, with demonstrated completion of either a pupillage programme, practical training or equivalent. Experience in a Government or corporate legal environment with a background that includes litigation and advisory is preferred.
