The clinician provides patient-centered care by performing assessments, executing treatment plans, supervising support staff, and maintaining accurate documentation and productivity statistics in compliance with clinical standards and policies. Key responsibilities include meeting productivity standards set by the department for direct patient contact and other related non-patient contact duties, performing an appropriate assessment on all in and/or outpatients following referral; using objective clinical measures to identify problems and formulate treatment plans based on realistic stated goals; carrying out specific therapeutic interventions as indicated; supervising and delegating specific written treatment plans to aides, assistants, and/or students; observing and evaluating treatment effect; maintaining patient documentation according to current standards and policies; and keeping accurate and timely statistics of both direct and indirect time spent.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required with certification, if applicable, in jurisdiction of training. 1 – 2 years post-graduate experience in a related Occupational Therapy environment, preferably within a hospital. Local registration to practice with the Council for Allied Health Professions (CAHP) and meet all re-registration requirements. Experience working within a psychiatric setting and Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; flexibility and creativity to accommodate the needs of the patients, care givers and Rehabilitation Team. Diplomacy, ability to delegate and supervise assistants, aides, and students.
