The incumbent supports patient rehabilitation and daily living by assisting with personal care, facilitating social and therapeutic activities, monitoring physical and mental health, and ensuring patient safety during transport and community outings. Key responsibilities include:

Assisting patients in organizing their daily living activities, which includes feeding, bathing, dressing and bed making
Actively participating in patient’s programmes to ensure ongoing training to facilitate them achieving their maximum potential
Assisting patients in organizing their social and recreational activities. Actively engaging in these activities with patients both in hospital and in the community
Escorting, remaining with and to be responsible for the safe return of patients to and from activities. (Including driving hospital transport when required)
Observation and monitoring of clients physical/mental state and reporting to the nurse in charge any changes of note.
Assisting with completion of assessment on all patients

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent; Nursing Assistant Certificate required with two years’ experience working in a hospital setting. Those with less years’ experience will be considered; Must be registered with the Bermuda Nursing Council; Non-Combative Intervention Techniques (NCI) Certificate and CPR would be an asset
