The incumbent manages ambulance fleet readiness, oversees EMT recruitment, training, and performance, assists in budget planning, and provides direct emergency medical response while ensuring accurate patient documentation and safety. Key responsibilities include organizing vehicle safety inspections, ensuring maintenance and insurance of ambulances, overseeing the safety and welfare of EMTs, participating in staff selection and training, conducting performance assessments, preparing for disaster management, assisting with budget preparation, and responding to emergency calls.

Requirements

Associate degree in a related field (Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Paramedic Science, etcetera) – Desirable. Diploma in Supervisory Management or Business Administration preferred or within (2) years in the role. Certification with National Register for Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT). Mass Casualty Management Certification. Basic Life Support Certification (BLS). Valid Ambulance Drivers’ License (to be accomplished within six (6) months of employment with BHB). Minimum of four - five (4 - 5) years of experience as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) AND Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience. Current registration with the Council for Allied Health Professionals (Bermuda Department of Health).
