The Material Recovery Officer (MRO) is responsible for managing the operations of the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and its associated machinery and for carrying out specific assignments relative to recycling operations, materials marketing, data collection and processing, supervision of contracts and establishing alternate recycling initiatives. The job includes assisting Government and Non-Governmental entities in Recycling Matters as it relates to Government's overall Waste Management Programme. Additional duties include assisting the Waste Management Section with handling other recycled / non-recycled materials in other facilities as needed. This post holder may also be the point of contact for any Safety and Health issues within the Solid Waste section on a rotational basis with other officers within the Waste Management. Has authority to make decisions within existing policy and makes recommendations to change existing policy. Has signing authority for weekly time sheets and stores purchases as well as procurement of goods via purchase orders. Will be involved in tender document preparation relating to recycling operations.

Requirements

Minimum 5 years working in an industrial environment with 2 years supervisory experience. Must possess a Supervisory Management Certification equivalent to ILM Level 3. Must have certification in: C.P.R., and O.S.H.A. (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) or other equivalent certification. Must possess a Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) accreditation or an equivalent organization membership. Additional consideration may be given to applicants who possess 7 years' experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities and three years supervisory experience. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources is a must.
