The Ministry of Education is seeking exemplary Special Education teacher with an Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and or Severe/Profound Intellectual Disabilities qualification who are committed to improving student outcomes for the upcoming school year. The ASD Teacher provides support to students with autism spectrum disorders and emotional disabilities. The ASD teacher will implement an intensive instruction model, using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or another accredited intensive behavior supports model. The ASD teacher is responsible for planning instruction and adaption of the general/special education curriculum to accommodate students in the learning process. The ASD teacher will function as the case manager for students with individualized education programs (IEPs) and oversees their compliance. The ASD learning support teacher will provide students on the Autism spectrum with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth; develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to match student ability levels; work in self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum of three years experience in special education particularly with students that are moderate, severe and/or profound within the Autism Spectrum. Minimum of a Master's degree in Special Education or equivalent. Registration with the Bermuda Educators Council. Copies of all relevant degrees/certificates, transcripts and a Bermuda Educators Council license must be attached.
