The Assistant Supervisor will assist the Supervisor with the oversight of the compliance program for barristers and accountants who are members of Bermuda-regulated professional firms to ensure they comply with the requirements of the Proceeds of Crime (Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing Supervision and Enforcement Act of 2008 ("the Act") and related legislation. Principal duties include, but are not limited to: 1. Guiding regulated professional firms as to compliance with AML/ATF Regulations and sanctions and any changes thereto. 2. Carry out risk-based onsite and off-site inspections and ongoing monitoring of regulated professional firms to determine compliance with AML/ATF regulations and sanctions. 3. Reporting to the Supervisor cases of non-compliance with legislation and making recommendations on the imposition of civil penalties. 4. Report to the Supervisor on compliance of regulated professional firms with legislation and make recommendations on further supervision and enforcement actions. 5. Carrying out projects as designated by the Supervisor, including but not limited to attending meetings (both internal and external), liaising with other regulators in Bermuda and overseas, conducting educational seminars for regulated professional firms, preparing monthly reports on supervisory activities, and other duties as may be required from time to time. 6. Utilize data analytics and technological advancements, including AI, to enhance regulatory efficiency. 7. Manage research initiatives to track trends and inform legislative and policy development. 8. Act as Supervisor in the Supervisor's absence. Knowledge and Experience Required: 1. The Assistant Supervisor must be qualified as a lawyer or as an accountant (CA, ACA or CPA) with at least 5 years' post-qualification experience. 2. A compliance designation (ICA or ACAMS) with at least three years of AML/ATF compliance experience is preferred. 3. Previous employment as a regulator would be a distinct advantage. 4. A demonstrable understanding of Bermuda's AML/ATF law and regulations, sanctions regimes, and knowledge of international standards and trends in AML/ATF/PF law and regulations. 5. Exceptional written and oral communication skills, highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to relate well with a wide range of people both internally and externally are essential. 6. Excellent time management and organizational skills, and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 products are necessary.
