This post is accountable for the development and coordination of health promotion activities and programmes across government and private schools to create a culture of health and wellbeing that will provide each student with the opportunity to reach their maximum educational potential and minimize absences due to illness or chronic disease. This post collaborates with multi-disciplinary staff of Government and community partners with the aim of encouraging healthier attitudes and behaviours in the school age population. The post holder must use initiative and discretion in the field to act to educate schools about holistic health issues and identifies areas for improvement; highlights issues and shares information related to compliance with school health policies and Bermuda laws; and makes recommendations to remediate health issues within respective facilities. Annual assessment of each school against specific components of health and provide information on any areas that indicate a low level of compliance and subsequent measures are put in place to improve overall health of students and their families, school staff, and the wider community.
