The post holder works under the leadership and supervision of the Treatment Coordinator to manage a case load of substance dependent clients (i.e. high-risk individuals, such as offenders, mental health individuals, and individuals with high risk- communicable disease(s). The post holder will provide substance abuse treatment using best practice modalities in a 24-hour residential facility. Responsibilities include individual and group counseling, developing treatment plans, monitoring medication, reporting on client outcomes, and supervising junior staff. The Addiction Counsellor is also involved in case management and crisis intervention.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant clinical discipline and certification as an Addiction Counsellor with the Bermuda Addiction Certification Board or equivalent. A minimum of five years counseling experience, including three years as a direct treatment provider for substance related problems is required. Competency with Microsoft suites and willingness to learn case management systems are essential. Certification in CPR and crisis intervention techniques is mandatory.
