The SVP, Senior Legal Counsel-Underwriting is responsible for advising the Bermuda Underwriting function on complex and bespoke reinsurance transactions and will also work closely with the Chief Counsel to identify, manage and reduce regulatory and compliance risk across the company's reinsurance operations. The SVP, Senior Legal Counsel - Underwriting is expected to work closely with peers in the Bermuda office, as well as our U.S., U.K., and European offices, to ensure consistency of legal advice provided across our global underwriting function. Responsibilities include functioning as an embedded legal counsel, providing legal support for drafting bespoke contracts, working with outside counsel on worldwide regulatory issues, and advising on legal rights regarding potential contractual disputes.

Requirements

University degree with an emphasis on business, finance, or accounting; Law degree from a reputable U.S.-accredited institution; Minimum of fifteen years as a practicing attorney dealing with the (re)insurance industry; Detailed working knowledge of the (re)insurance industry (ILS sector experience strongly preferred); Proven experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating high-economic exposure transaction documentation; Experience arbitrating/litigating disputes in the U.S. preferred.
