Under the direction of the Senior Programme Manager of DCFS and the supervision of the Coordinator, the post holder is required to fulfill the departmental mandates and protocols in respect to child abuse, neglect, investigation, screening, assessment, foster care, adoption, mediation, social inquiry reports, custody investigations and evaluations. The post holder assesses, investigates, evaluates and intervenes where children are at risk and provides intervention services to families to reduce ongoing risk to children. The post holder is required to work in consultation with multi-disciplinary teams on behalf of at risk families. The post holder also carries out administrative responsibilities. The post holder has the authority to carry out their duties in accordance with DCFS Practice Guide and relevant legislation, however supervisory review and sign off is required for all tools, assessments, Service Plans, internal and external referrals, Court Reports, local placement decisions, vendor quotes, PO Requisitions, service contracts and external correspondence. The Social Worker is appointed as a Children's Officer in accordance with the Children Act 1998 and its revisions.
