Sun Life HNW delivers innovative offshore life insurance solutions to High Net Worth (HNW) markets around the world. The Director, Underwriting, International will deliver fair and consistent Underwriting decisions based on Sun Life’s Underwriting Philosophy to deliver mortality results consistent with expectations while maintaining a strong customer focus. The Director will report to the Chief Underwriting Officer on all underwriting matters. Key responsibilities include mortality risk appraisal for ultra-high net worth business primarily in Asian markets and working towards approval authority up to $35 million.

Requirements

University degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline; Over 10 years individual underwriting experience in Canada, United States, offshore or equivalent in large case markets; Completion of the Fellowship, Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU) and the Fellowship, Life Management Institute (FLMI); Proficient in understanding all risk factors relating to mortality risk management; In-depth technical knowledge for medical and financial underwriting practices; Fluency in Cantonese or Mandarin is desired; Willingness to work some non-standard hours to liaise with offices in other time zones.
