The Bermuda Monetary Authority (Authority or BMA) is seeking the services of a skilled and capable individual to work as a Senior Analyst in our Supervision (Banking, Trust, Corporate Services and Investment) Department. Reporting to a Principal, the Senior Analyst will be responsible for performing supervisory activities, including on-site, prudential meetings and off-site examinations, monitoring licensee performance, analysing regulatory reports and undertaking research and other supervisory actions covering institutions licensed under the respective legislated financial service regimes supervised by the BMA. This is a key role for the Authority and the post holder will be responsible for but not limited to:Assisting with the planning and execution of on-site and off-site examinations and developing examination strategy and scopingPerforming technical and compliance reviews of licensed/ regulated business entities to evaluate compliance with existing laws, regulations, policies, codes, plans and proceduresDeveloping agendas and schedules, attending meetings with and interviewing management (including C-Suite) and employees of financial undertakings to evaluate compliance with existing laws, regulations, policies, codes, plans and proceduresAnalysing and proposing recommendations and remediation action plans for compliance issues and control weaknesses noted from on-site and off-site examinationsPreparing reports and memos for Senior Management detailing on-site review findings and recommendationsManaging and monitoring the remediation process for financial undertakings with compliance issuesResearching and consulting with other team members on technical issuesIdentifying matters for escalation to Senior Management within the Authority and assisting with enforcement referralsAssisting with the continuous risk assessment processCoordinating activities with wider team members concerning monitoring and reviewing licensed and regulated business entities and new regulatory policy issues affecting the industryPerforming other related work and special projects as assigned by management

Requirements

This position requires a proven technical and business background. Therefore, the post holder must have:A bachelor’s degree in business and/or an equivalent qualification in Finance or Accounting from a recognised institution or professional bodyRelevant professional qualifications (e.g., CA, CPA, CFA, TEP or FRM) would be a distinct advantageA minimum of five (5) years experience in the financial services industry, preferably within a financial regulatory body and/or an accounting firmQuantitative experience with strong analytical skills to effectively identify risk trendsExperience conducting or participating in on-site reviewsA strong track record of taking a positive, solutions-focused attitude towards complex problem-solvingThe ability to deliver effective outcome-focused actions in an environment where priorities may change at short noticeA high degree of personal commitment and and the ability to work well as a member of a team, as well as under pressureConfidence in conducting and speaking at meetingsStrong oral and written communication skills, in particular, the ability to produce reports and business correspondence with a high level of accuracy within tight deadlinesProven experience in the evaluation of corporate governance structures, risk management frameworks and internal controlsWorking knowledge of computerised systems and databases, particularly the Microsoft Suite of products
