On behalf of our client, BNRE Bermuda Services Ltd. (BNRE Services), we seek applications to fill the role of Director, Actuarial. BNRE Services supports the wholly owned subsidiaries of Brookfield Wealth Solutions Ltd. Reporting into and working closely with the Chief Actuary the Director, Actuarial will work within the actuarial team to support the development, maintenance and optimization of actuarial and financial models used across Brookfield Wealth Solutions Group. Responsibilities: Act as a Subject Matter Expert in actuarial and financial model development, building efficient, robust, and flexible tools for use across the Group; Support Chief Actuary with the implementation of the internal reserving platform and its roll-out across the group; Provide leadership and direction in the areas of automation, modelling technology and process optimization; Contribute technical expertise across a wide breadth of complex actuarial topics; Effectively communicate the merits and limitations of models to both technical and non-technical audiences; Collaborate with the Actuarial team to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in modelling; Design optimized processes through the use of automation and technology; Plan, perform, and document model validations and testing in line with model risk management policy and regulatory requirements; Oversee the quality, completeness and availability of data for modelling, projecting expected asset and liability cash flows, and provide reports thereon as required; Establish and maintain robust governance, controls and documentation across all models and processes; Work closely teams outside of Actuarial, including Audit and Finance, the Investment and Analytics and Risk teams on Asset Liability Matching considerations and proposed actions for potential treaties; Peer review modelling across the Group, including colleagues operating in subsidiaries in other jurisdictions as required, to support consistency; Support the ongoing maintenance, enhancement and user adoption of actuarial models and platforms across the enterprise; Enhance and provide model output to support management decision-making and regulatory reporting, as required.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Finance; Qualified Actuary (FSA or FIA); Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, including life and/or annuity product development, reinsurance, insurance M&A, and valuation / financial reporting; A very strong command of Microsoft Excel and VBA; Strong skills / experience in object-oriented programming and automation; Strong skills / experience in actuarial modeling (PathWise preferred) of life and annuity products; Experience in data engineering and/or analytics using industry standard languages (Python, SQL, R); Experience with cloud services (AWS or Azure) preferred but not required; Strong communication skills with the ability to present clearly and offer practical advice; Familiarity with Bermuda Solvency Regime and/or US STAT or comparable solvency based reserving regime (Solvency II, Cash Flow Testing, CALM, etc.); Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to operate independently; Team-oriented with a commitment to shared success; Excellent judgement and analytical skills combined with attention to detail and thoroughness; Ability to reliably process workload and adhere to deadlines; and High degree of professional ethics and integrity. This position would be suitable for those candidates who meet the role qualifications and who thrive in a performance-driven environment that emphasizes employee leadership and accountability for delivering results. At times, the successful candidates will be expected to work outside normal working hours including Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays to meet business needs.
