Stevedoring Services Limited (SSL), a subsidiary of Polaris Holding Company Ltd., has operated Bermuda's commercial port since 1966 and is the island's only container port operator. A great opportunity exists for a full-time Terminal Operator (TO). Reporting directly to the Systems Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be required to work independently and as part of the team on the dock. This position is a totally hands-on role. The Terminal Operator role covers three rotational areas (Terminal Clerk, Gate Clerk, and Tally Clerk) and an operator may be assigned to any one of these on a given day at the discretion of the Systems Operations Manager. Operators are expected to be cross-trained across all three areas. Normal work hours are from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. However, the dock operates on a seven-day week schedule, and you will be required to work overtime from time to time to accommodate vessel operations. This is a unionised position. Any work connected with after hours or weekend will be paid at the double-time rate.

Requirements

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Microsoft Teams; Ability to quickly learn and operate the Master Terminal system; Good report writing and presentation skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Flexibility to adapt to changes in schedule. A brief computer skills assessment is required prior to hire.
