Our client Nautilus Indemnity Holdings Limited, a Bermuda based captive insurance company, provides insurance to one of the world's leading professional services organisations. The company is actively seeking a highly motivated Claims Counsel. The Claims Counsel will report to the Senior Claims Counsel and General Counsel and is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring of claims and assistance in the management of the Junior Claims Counsel and a team of 2 claims administrators. The role will require regular interaction with assured firms and their external counsel on complex coverage and claims management issues. The role includes responsibility for maintaining relationships with key (and frequently very senior) members of the risk management and legal teams at the professional services organisations. This role carries significant responsibility and the candidate must be intellectually robust, an effective communicator, hard working and reliable.

Requirements

Strong academic qualifications – 2:1 University Degree; Qualified UK/Commonwealth lawyer (8-12 years' PQE); Experience of dealing with complex insurance and reinsurance law issues; Experience of litigating and defending large and complex financial lines claims; Multi-jurisdictional, high value, insurance claims experience; Good working knowledge of document review/e-discovery platforms; Familiarity with data privacy requirements; High degree of competence with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; Ability to research complex legal issues and draft clear advice; Strong interpersonal abilities and communication skills; Attention to detail, accuracy and strong organisational skills; Willingness to travel when required.
