Our client, Axcelus Financial is looking for Vice President of Finance. The Vice President of Finance has responsibility for the financial oversight of Axcelus Financial's Bermuda domiciled life insurance companies. This includes working with the regulators and ratings agencies to ensure our entities remain in good standing. A key part of this role will also involve management of all treasury related functions. Responsibilities: Oversee all financial management for Axcelus Bermuda. Responsible for the treasury function which includes oversight of the banking structure and controls, managing liquidity and working capital, forecast cash flows, maintaining relationships with external banking institutions. Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes; manage all financial reporting, forecasting, and statutory/regulatory filings, including BSCRs and annual audit. Develop financial strategy, including budgeting, long term planning, and analysis of strategic initiatives, transactions, and associated financial impacts. Provide solutions to mitigate financial and reputational risk while maximizing profitability. Responsible for Capital allocation and optimization. Manage operational budgets, capital expenditures, accounts payable, and treasury service providers. Maintain relationships with regulators (BMA), ratings agencies, external auditors, and internal audit. Support compliance and risk frameworks, including review of internal controls testing. Review financial data from service providers for accuracy, including M&E fees and commissions. Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard the financial assets of Axcelus Bermuda. Collaborate with actuarial and distribution/sales teams on product pricing. Approve all financial information shared with external parties. Responsible for all Treasury functions and oversight of service providers.

Requirements

Requirements, Desired Skills and Experience: BA/BS in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field. CA, CPA or other similar accounting qualification. 10+ years of experience in a senior finance role. Life insurance professional designation such as ALMI is preferred. Strong understanding of U.S. tax rules related to insurance companies and ECI. Knowledge of hedge funds, private equity, and alternative investments. Re/insurance transaction experience within a corporation or advisory environment required. Demonstrated knowledge of BSCR, FCR, CISSA, Bermuda STAT, and U.S. GAAP reporting. Strong understanding of life insurance and annuity products. Proven ability to present financial strategies and results at Board level and to internal/external stakeholders. Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills. Strong team player able to thrive in a small, dynamic environment. Experience and knowledge of the Bermuda regulatory environment is an asset. Willingness to travel as needed.
