Our client, Group Ark Insurance Limited, a Class 4 re/insurance company, are looking to fill the role of Underwriter - Marine, Energy and Specialty Reinsurance within our treaty underwriting team. The chosen candidate will play a critical role in evaluating, pricing, and underwriting (re)insurance risks in accordance with company policies and guidelines. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders, providing them with tailored solutions to meet their (re)insurance needs.
Requirements
Duties & Responsibilities:Performing in-depth statistical analysis on claims, exposures and risks with a view to continually strengthen the book of business.Developing and maintaining client and broker relationships within Marine/Specialty lines of business, representing Group Ark with the ability to cross sell with other lines of business.Assessing client needs and creating a product or structure for each transaction that best aligns with those requirements.Originating, underwriting and administering a portfolio of reinsurance business and, where necessary, protecting the portfolio with suitable strategies based on an ability to analyze and assess the best options available.Negotiating contracts and measuring the profitability of business written.Review and maintain high underwriting performance and claims audits of client files.Identify trends and opportunities for portfolio optimization and diversification.Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience:University degree, in a highly numerate field.Professional designation preferred/required (CPCU, ARe or equivalent designation).Minimum 10+ years' underwriting experience within the (re)insurance industry is required.Proven track record of underwriting large and complex (re)insurance risks, whilst managing a diverse portfolio that consistently delivers profit.Proficient in underwriting software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office suite.Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret and assess financial and statistical data.A skilled negotiator with excellent interpersonal abilities and a strong commitment to finding mutually beneficial solutions.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with underwriters, modelers and cross-functional teams (eg. operations/claims), with comfort presenting internally/externally (as required).
