The Bermuda Monetary Authority (Authority or BMA) is seeking the services of a qualified and experienced individual to work as a Principal Developer within the Management Services Department. Reporting to the Assistant Director Software Developer, the Principal Developer is responsible for working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to design, build, and optimise robust solutions leveraging a core set of tools to debug, test and deploy modern .NET web applications efficiently (Visual Studio, Azure and GitHub). The postholder will serve as both a subject matter expert and technical leader, fostering an empowering, innovative and productive work environment while driving key projects to meet organisational goals. As a part of your leadership responsibilities, you will mentor and manage team members to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality solutions that align with business needs. This is a key role for the Authority and the postholder will be responsible for but not limited to: Leading the design, development, testing and deployment of scalable solutions using .NET technology that support key business workflows and processes Developing reusable components, templates and processes to streamline system integrations using .NET technology Ensuring seamless integration of .NET solutions with external systems, such as Dynamics 365, Azure and other third-party tools Driving feasibility studies, software specifications, system flow charts and detailed solution documentation that align with business objectives and technical requirements Performing troubleshooting and problem resolution for .NET solution-related issues, including on-call support when necessary, ensuring optimal system uptime Optimising Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to manage workflows and integrate data from regulatory filings and financial services supervisory activities into the organisation's data ecosystem Maintaining broad and current knowledge of emerging technologies with a focus on regulatory reporting, financial supervision tools, and the .NET ecosystem Developing and executing proof-of-concept prototypes to test and evaluate innovative solutions before operational deployment Partnering with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications, solutions and deliverables Providing leadership to a multi-disciplinary team, effectively managing human, monetary and equipment resources to establish an innovative and productive work environment Fostering collaboration by ensuring a clear understanding of priorities, resolving conflicts, and promoting a culture of professional excellence Serving as the primary liaison for cross-functional teams, providing strategic guidance and subject matter expertise while communicating progress, challenges and requirements to stakeholders Driving team development by monitoring career and technical growth, identifying skill gaps and implementing targeted training to build capacity Monitoring team performance, delivering mentorship and constructive feedback and steering performance appraisals to build a high-performing and growth-oriented team Driving a team culture of accountability, collaboration, and creativity to achieve departmental and organisational goals Performing other related work and special projects as assigned by management in accordance with competencies normally associated with the post.

Requirements

This position requires a proven technical and business background, therefore, the postholder must have: A master's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information technology or a relevant discipline or a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, information technology or a relevant discipline and certification in a relevant subject area (i.e., Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, Microsoft Specialist: Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3) A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in IT, of which at least three (3) years should be at a senior level, designing and developing databases using C#, .NET/Blazor development, in the financial services industry with particular emphasis on insurance industry experience Experience leading development teams and managing resources to deliver complex projects on time Strong background in database design and data integration, including working with SQL Server, Dataverse and APIs Expert knowledge of .NET development tools, capabilities and integration processes Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies Familiar with Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365 and Azure services is highly desirable Strong leadership, mentoring and collaboration Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering practical solutions Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
