The Senior Legal Counsel will support the General Counsel in delivering high-quality, commercially focused legal advice across the business. The role ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations while enabling the company’s strategic objectives. Operating within a mutual insurance and commercial re/insurance environment, this position spans advisory, transactional, and governance responsibilities, working closely with the General Counsel and executive team to protect the company's interests and manage legal risk.

Requirements

Qualified lawyer with a current practicing certificate or law license. 7+ years' PQE in private practice and/or in-house, ideally within insurance or financial services. Strong experience in insurance, corporate, and commercial law with regulatory exposure. Proven ability to deliver pragmatic, solutions-oriented legal advice. Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills. Ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders, underwriters, claims, etc. and effectively manage external counsel relationships. Skilled at building legal awareness across the organization through effective training and communication on regulatory matters. High integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a regulated environment.
