The Bermuda Monetary Authority (Authority or BMA) is seeking the services of a skilled and capable team member to work as Junior Legal Counsel within our Legal Services and Enforcement Department. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Legal Services and Enforcement, the incumbent will perform various duties, including applying advanced analytical skills to provide legal interpretations of laws, rules, and regulations, drafting legal documents, and representing the Authority in hearings/appeals and mediations, as necessary. This is a key role for the Authority involving tasks such as evaluating high-impact information, conducting witness interviews, drafting pleadings and affidavits, and maintaining relationships with supervisory units and law enforcement.

Requirements

An accredited law degree and be a Barrister or Solicitor admitted to practice in Bermuda; a minimum of three (3) years' relevant legal experience in a regulatory environment, commercial law, or financial services law; working knowledge of Bermuda's insolvency, restructuring, administrative, and financial services law; strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
