As a Meteorological Forecaster within the Bermuda Weather Service section, you will be responsible for monitoring the weather and producing forecasts, watches, and warnings for aviation, marine, and the public interest in accordance with ICAO/WMO and local standards. The Bermuda Weather Service is a 24/7 operation and applicants must be prepared to work 12-hour rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and public holidays. Shortlisted applicants will go through a detailed security vetting process and must be able to obtain a Skyport Restricted Airside Pass.

Requirements

A recognized Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology with one year of operational experience as a forecaster; or a recognized Bachelor of Science in Mathematics or Science with three years of forecasting experience in an operational environment. In lieu of a degree, applicants with ten years of forecasting experience in an operational meteorological forecasting environment may also be considered. Excellent communication skills, ability to balance teamwork and independent work, and ability to make rapid decisions under pressure are required. Assets include prior experience with the Bermuda Weather Service, WMO/ICAO aeronautical forecaster training certification, experience with IBL's Visual Weather software, and prior tropical/marine forecasting experience.
