Property Treaty Underwriter

The Property Treaty Underwriter will be responsible for developing and maintaining a significant and diversified treaty portfolio in respect of multitude of products in Property and related lines of business. These products will be offered on a worldwide basis. The individual will report directly to the Head of US Property and will assist in coordinating all stages of the underwriting process Key Responsibilities: • Performing in-depth statistical analyses across multiple areas of the business with focus on Property Cat XoL, QS and Per Risk, Cat on D&F, Retro,, ILWs and other programs that include Cat Business. • Identifying the need of the clients and for each transaction developing the reinsurance product/structure that best fits these needs. • Marketing to senior level brokers and clients. • Negotiating contracts and assuring profitability of business written. • Performing underwriting audits of client files. • Extensive travel in order to conduct business with worldwide based clients and brokers, and flexibility and after-hours work are required. Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • Minimum of 8 years of pricing and/or underwriting experience, primarily in Property Catastrophe re/insurance underwriting – both US and international preferred (some US experience required). • A relevant College or University Degree required • A professional re/insurance designation(s) such as CPCU, ARE, ACII, ASLI would be an asset The successful candidate will have developed a proven track record in the market and excellent current contacts with both direct clients and brokers in the reinsurance areas of both US and international property • Knowledge and understanding of Catastrophe Modelling including the ability to analyze and interpret its output Proficient in MS Excel Experience in specific deal underwriting as well as portfolio management; capable of underwriting Understands, identifies and monitors property market trends, risk landscape and regulatory developments • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with management at a senior level • Ability to organize and prioritize a demanding workload. Extensive travel and the ability to work overtime /weekends is expected for this position to conduct business with worldwide based clients/brokers
