QBE has an exciting, newly created role for an Assistant Underwriter to work closely with our International Casualty and Property underwriting team based in Bermuda. The successful candidate will underwrite business and support the Underwriting team in accordance with the business plan and within delegated underwriting authority. With full support and training from experienced colleagues, this is a great opportunity to develop your underwriting career! Your New Role Underwrite business in accordance with the business plan and within our UK and European business. Perform underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met Contribute to the recording and measurement of insurance risks to ensure accuracy and good practice Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues, to increase exposure in the market. Develop knowledge of market dynamics and market cycles to be able to support business performance. Underwrite insurance risks to meet business objectives including negotiating rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business, ensuring production and issue of contract certainty documentation and supporting credit control in payment collection. Support the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress towards business objectives About You Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and at least three years of relevant work experience within the insurance industry, preferably commercial lines, with prior underwriting experience preferred. ACII / ARe/CPCU or equivalent or presently working towards completion / willing to complete A high level of numeracy and literacy along with strong organisational, prioritisation and analytical skills with the ability to self-motivate, multi-task and handle competing priorities and work effectively under time pressures Proven problem solving skills – demonstrating tenacity in handling and resolving queries. Advanced level understanding of relevant software, including Excel and other departmental software packages. Very strong attention to detail with the ability to work under own initiative and as part of a small team Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly and confidently convey information across wide audiences
