Arch Reinsurance Ltd. (Bermuda) provides specialty property, casualty and life reinsurance products through reinsurance intermediaries worldwide. These programs range from Property Catastrophe and Property Excess of Loss reinsurance to Professional Liability and Marine Treaties. Arch Re's Bermuda-based operation has a strong, proven management team, a commitment to underwriting discipline, and financial strength that is rated A (Excellent) by A.M. Best and A+ by S&P. The successful candidate will work within the Actuarial and Cat Modelling teams to maintain and develop financial reporting and underwriting systems that support U.S. SEC financial reporting requirements and the Company's optimized risk position regarding its exposure to natural catastrophes. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the company's View of Cat Risk and his work shall include continuous assessment of, and re-calibration of natural hazards' modeling. Key Responsibilities: • Analysis of advanced scientific data in respect of natural hazards to enhance the development of the company's own view of risk. • Evaluate Cat Models from external vendors and recommend adjustments in line with the company's own view of risk. Maintain the company's software and develop methodologies to help the Company in its assessment of its exposure to various losses, including catastrophe risk position by pricing contracts, measuring marginal impact to its portfolio and ranking them based on profitability. Integrate and run pricing software in the day-to-day underwriting business workflow. • Develop and document proprietary software packages that integrate third party modelling software with the company's existing software/databases. Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience: • A degree in Atmospheric Science, Environmental Science or related field. • Minimum 8-years' related experience of in-depth use of Cat Modelling industry software (such as Verisk's Touchstone, Moody's RMS or KCC's RiskInsight). • 5-year experience in evaluating vendor models for Natural Hazards and communicating findings and recommendations. Related experience in coordinating research projects. In depth knowledge of weather hazards and environmental and atmospheric risks. • Proficiency in SQL and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with Snowflake and Python programming. • Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment. • Must be able to work outside of normal office hours on a regular basis, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as necessary.
