Our client, Group Ark Insurance Limited, a Class 4 re/insurance company, is seeking a Head of Specialty Reinsurance, Senior Underwriter Syndicate 4020. Duties & Responsibilities: • To hit or exceed the business plan underwriting profit target in respect of business class whilst working within Ark's risk tolerance, pricing and governance framework. • To be aware of and to comply with the PRA Principles for Business and, if applicable, the PRA Senior Managers & Certification Regime. • Provide representation, liaison and relationship development with Lloyd's and market bodies. • Propose and produce class of business underwriting plan in accordance with performance targets. • Underwrite multiple Reinsurance lines of business on behalf of Syndicate 4020 within personal underwriting authority and in accordance with key business plan targets. • Regularly monitor and review progress against plan with Underwriters/other senior management and through market knowledge and reserving exercise. Propose changes to the plan as appropriate to maximise returns. • Build and maintain good relationships with brokers, clients, regulators as appropriate and deliver high quality service as part of means to deliver profit to ASML and value to customer. • Where appropriate, travel to meet clients, brokers, etc., to maintain and develop class of business. Ensure compliance with all Group, regulatory and Lloyd's requirements. • Manage and develop staff to ensure their major goals are achieved and people are developed. Suggest training and development needs. • Identify and implement ways to improve the quality of people, and performance of the account through new ideas, processes, approaches, etc. Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • At least 10 years, relevant experience in broking or underwriting across specialty reinsurance classes, preferably in the London market. • Relevant college or university degree required. • Proven experience in syndicate strategy, exposure management, group risk tolerance, and reinsurance. • Strong knowledge of planning, pricing, reserving, and application of internal models. • Ability to handle referrals across classes and understand market trends, including political and social impacts. • Familiarity with the Lloyd's Minimum Standards. • Proven track record and notable current contacts with brokers, clients and underwriters across various jurisdictions. • Proven ability to market to internal and external stakeholders. Awareness of distribution risks and factors influencing achievement of business objectives. • Must demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and diligence; maintains openness with regulators and uphold proper market conduct.
