• Support the Bermuda underwriting team by performing various actuarial analyses, rating analyses, portfolio reviews, and other related actuarial and underwriting tasks.
• Provide technical support in actuarial pricing, reserving, risk and capital modeling and other related actuarial processes.
• Support both the Chief Reserving Actuary and the Chief Actuary in reserving for all business written by Pillar.
• Assist with portfolio roll-up and preparation of reports for senior management and investors
• Maintain existing pricing and portfolio management tools and update data/ parameters as required
• Assist with the development of new tools/ systems as necessary.
• Production and upkeep of relevant process and systems documentation
• Liaise with underwriters and senior management on portfolio reporting and projections.
• Assist with project management across the underwriting, modelling, and actuarial functions.
• Assist with other ad hoc projects as requested.

Additional Tech and Education:

• Technical Member, along with significant progress toward becoming an Associate / Fellow, of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, the Casualty Actuarial Society, the Actuarial Society of South Africa, or an equivalent actuarial professional body.
• Undergraduate degree in mathematics, or actuarial sciences.
• A minimum of 3 years of prior experience in the insurance/ reinsurance industry, including prior audit experience in the Property Catastrophe/ ILS industry.

Pillar is currently recruiting an Actuary, to be based in Bermuda, who will report to the Chief Reserving Actuary. The Actuary will assist the Actuarial and Underwriting teams with pricing, reserving and other ad hoc tasks as may be required from time to time. The successful candidate will form part of a team of dynamic and entrepreneurial individuals ranging from reinsurance professionals to actuaries and portfolio managers with decades of underwriting experience.
