The Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art is seeking an Executive Director to lead the nonprofit arts foundation, established in 1987 to celebrate and preserve Bermuda's cultural heritage and artistic legacy. The Executive Director will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping Masterworks' future as Masterworks prepares for its next phase which includes donor development, operational strengthening and a capital expansion to a second facility within the Botanical Gardens. The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive and public ambassador of Masterworks. The ED is responsible for providing strategic leadership; ensuring financial sustainability; leading fundraising, stakeholder relations, and external engagement; and overseeing the delivery of high-quality curatorial, educational, and operational programmes. The ED reports to the Board Chair and works closely with individual Directors, This role is ideal for a leader who combines fundraising excellence, cultural vision, business acumen, and a deep commitment to make art accessible to the Bermuda community. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and build on Masterworks' strategic and organisational vision; Serve as Masterworks' chief fundraiser, Lead institutional planning for growth; Build and strengthen strategic relationships within the community and stakeholders schools, cultural and art organisations, government partners, tourism partners and donors amongst others; Ensure Masterworks continues to be one of the best art education centres on the island with increases its educational outreach; Provide curatorial direction and ensure professional collection stewardship; Oversee operations, human resources, facilities and financial management; Lead each staff member to be the best they can in their role while fostering harmony; and Work with the Board of Directors to ensure strong governance and Masterworks' success. Qualifications, Skills & Experience Minimum 4-year university degree in a relevant field (public relations, communication, business systems, marketing, art, etc.). Preference may be given to candidates with a master's degree or doctoral degree; Minimum of 3 years of fundraising experience with evidence of achievement or exceedance of targets and growth of donor base, Minimum of 10 years work experience in an appropriate discipline (public relations, fundraising, art/museum, corporate marketing, etc.), and preferably 5 of that will be within a non-profit organisation; Evidence of increasing responsibility in job history; Excellent knowledge and demonstrated ability in fundraising, marketing, and audience development; Knowledge of metrics to assess, reflect and set direction which are appropriate measures of success in respect of fundraising, educational outreach, community engagement, curatorial activities, collections management and operational stability; Ability to create strong operational performance, and improve visitor experience; Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and aptitude to learn new technologies; Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills; Possesses business acumen and maturity, nimble and adaptable to non-traditional situations; and Possesses strong self-management skills, is curious and is not afraid to take risks, has an entrepreneurial perspective, places a high value on Masterworks professionalism, and is people oriented.
