Reporting jointly to the Business Unit CFO and Group Financial Controller, the Financial Controller is responsible for the financial control, management reporting, statutory reporting, and regulatory reporting of the Bermuda-based Hiscox Re entities. The role leads a team of up to five qualified accountants and is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining a strong control environment, and supporting the professional development of team members. Acting as a key business partner to Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, Treasury, Operations, and Group Finance, the role provides financial analysis and insight to support strategic decision-making.

Requirements

A professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA or international equivalent). Minimum 8 years of post-qualification experience. Significant recent reinsurance accounting experience including revenue recognition, outwards reinsurance and reserving. Significant experience and working knowledge of the new IFRS 17 standard for insurance contracts as it relates to reinsurance. Experience with leading and reviewing all Bermuda Statutory reporting including the BSCR. Proven experience leading finance teams and managing stakeholder relationships. High proficiency in Oracle and Microsoft Office suite are beneficial. Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
