Graduates and scholars of the Bermuda College and Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) are eligible to submit applications for our Early Careers Programme. As part of this programme, participants will have the opportunity to undergo rotations across different departments, gaining comprehensive insight into our business. Depending on the candidate, departments may include one or more of the following: Operations, Administration, Facilities, Claims, Actuarial, Underwriting, Finance, IT, Legal.
Main Responsibilities:
Main responsibilities vary by department and may include the following:
Operations
• Perform necessary triage on the Operation Central Repository.
• Assist w/review and update of Adjustment Premium Report Master.
• Learn premium calculations; including premium payment based on adjustable rates.
Actuarial
• Provide data analytics and price catastrophe loss contracts for multiple classes using a combination of CAT modeling results and cedant historical experience.
• Learn CAT modeling concepts and explain results to underwriters to inform decision making.
• Evaluate cedant exposure data and highlight inconsistencies in exposure information.
Underwriting
• Manage all administrative requirements for the Underwriting team incl. handling submissions, prepping and reviewing contracts, and liaising with brokers throughout the underwriting cycle for required further information.
• Accountable for accuracy and completeness of data entry in our Underwriting systems.
• Support the pre-underwriting process focusing on review of historical performance and pricing adequacy based upon predefined underwriting guidelines.
• Assist with generation and distribution of weekly Reinsurance reports.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
• Basic competency in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe Standard required.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively and professionally with diverse groups.
• Proven prioritisation and time management skills and ability to triage workload essential within a deadline intensive working environment.
• Must be able to self-lead effectively and work effectively both independently and with teams.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver and manage accurate thoughtful detail-oriented work within tight deadlines and/or while working extended workdays.
