The AVP, Commercial Banking manages a portfolio of high value client relationships while providing leadership and strategic direction to the Commercial Banking team. Working closely with the SVP, Head of Commercial Banking, the AVP, Commercial Banking helps cultivate a client-centric sales culture through training and mentoring, drives revenue growth initiatives, and ensures disciplined risk management across the team. Key Job Accountabilities: * Leads, guides and manages the Relationship Management Team and Commercial Banking Coordinators; * Champions a true client-focused, needs-based sales culture within the team aimed at deepening client relationships and increasing share of wallet; * Works with senior leadership to embed revenue generating strategies and strengthen commercial portfolio growth; * Collaborates with other banking units to expand client relationships through coordinated service and cross-referrals; * Ensures regulatory compliance requirements are met and manages risk within the portfolio. * Supports the SVP, Head of Commercial Banking with risk mitigation and issue resolutions; * Represents Clarien at business and community events to reinforce market presence and strengthen client relationships; * Manages key relationships with large and/or strategic commercial entities to generate business and identifying new commercial credit opportunities; * Oversees credit structuring, underwriting documentation and communication with credit-approving groups; ensures credit files meet internal standards. * Supervises documentation for account opening, lending and transactional matters. * Directs the credit disbursement process and coordinates with internal teams, clients, legal counsel and other partners to ensure credit facilities are closed in a timely manner; * Plays a lead role in meeting profitability, sales and service goals by maximizing sustainable business development opportunities. * Builds and maintains a high market profile in the targeted market area with both internal and external contacts to generate sales opportunities; * Ensures ongoing compliance reviews and monitors adherence to policies, procedures and risk requirements. * Promotes teamwork and a high standard of customer service across divisions. * Leads special projects relating to the commercial client portfolio as required; and * Other ad-hoc tasks as reasonably assigned. Qualifications & Experience: * University degree in a relevant field. * Minimum of 8 years of commercial banking, credit and electronic banking experience * Demonstrated business development capability and ability to promote and protect the Bank's products. * Deep knowledge of loan structuring, negotiation and pricing. * Advanced understanding of financial statements, financial analysis and commercial credit underwriting. * Strong knowledge of KYC requirements for commercial clients. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office. * Excellent planning communication and interpersonal skills.. * Collaborative team player.
