We are currently seeking an Underwriter, to join our Casualty team and be responsible for the production, marketing, and analysis of reinsurance. The ideal candidate will bring a robust global background, with well-established broker and client relationships across the US and International markets. They will collaborate and partner across the broader underwriting team and play a key role in internal coordination for the organization's Casualty clients. Drawing on deep expertise and market experience you will contribute thought leadership internally and externally, representing MS Reinsurance's client-focused underwriting approach. As a member of the team, the successful candidate will also be expected to train, mentor, and develop our junior talent. The role is based in the Bermuda office and will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues worldwide, including teams in New York, Miami, and Zurich. Underwrite and manage reinsurance business across portfolios and product groups, making informed risk decisions on property per risk, pro rata, and catastrophe programs in alignment with MS Reinsurance's risk appetite and strategic objectives. Leverage advanced modeling and analytics to evaluate and report transactions, utilizing third party vendor models while critically challenging and supplementing results with additional data to ensure sound, long term underwriting judgment. Proactively monitor profitability by deal, client, and portfolio throughout the life cycle, taking corrective actions as needed. Assist in analyzing quarterly figures and producing projections, including identifying reserving levels and supporting budgeting and planning on a quarterly cadence. Develop and maintain strong broker and client relationships, leading meetings and communicating MS Reinsurance's strategy. Identify client needs and deliver tailored solutions, while executing targeted marketing initiatives to promote MS Reinsurance. Collaborate across underwriting teams (Property, Casualty, Specialty) and global offices (US & Zurich) to ensure seamless execution of reinsurance transactions and client initiatives. Support Lead Underwriter with client servicing, including reviewing, analyzing, and coordinating portfolio actions Drive process improvements and develop tools to enhance reporting, analysis, and planning, ensuring timely, high-quality insights across multiple levels. Ensure compliance with underwriting standards, audits, and regulatory requirements, adhering to company ethics and group policies while taking corrective action as needed. Stay current on industry trends, emerging risks, and market dynamics (including casualty lines) to inform underwriting strategy and MS Reinsurance's view of risk. Represent MS Reinsurance at industry events and forums to strengthen market presence and thought leadership. Lead, mentor, and train analysts and junior team members to foster a high performance culture. 3-5 years of reinsurance underwriting or broking experience. Proven experience of handling new and renewal business within the Casualty line of business. Property and Specialty experience is an advantage. Undergraduate degree required, ideally within a quantitative discipline such as science, engineering, economics, finance, mathematics, or statistics; relevant advanced degree in business or hard sciences preferred Possession of an industry related certification is an advantage such as FIA, CPCU, RPLU or ARe. Strong understanding of actuarial principles, and ability to critically evaluate and price complex risk. Pricing experience for excess of loss structure and quota share is a desired asset. Strong knowledge of policy wordings. Reputation and proven track record in managing and strengthening relationships with global brokers and clients. Ability to multi-task in a timely, accurate manner and provide feedback efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrates innovation, thought leadership, drive and creativity, drawing on other resources where needed. Strong written and verbal communication skills; expert level influencing and negotiating skills. Able to lead and work collaboratively within a team environment as well as an individual contributor across diverse teams. Demonstrates sensitivity, respects cultural differences, and always acts in an ethical manner.
