As a member of the Music Department, the successful candidate will teach piano to students in both the Primary and Secondary School. The role includes preparing students for practical and theory examinations, supporting report writing, and providing accompaniment for choirs, examinations, and ensembles. The position requires excellent sight-reading skills, a high level of musicianship, and a commitment to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment. Responsibilities • Teach piano to students across Primary and Secondary levels, supporting individual progress and musical development • Prepare students for practical and theory examinations, including written reporting • Accompany choirs, ensembles, and examinations as required • Demonstrate strong sight-reading skills and professional musicianship • Contribute to a vibrant, collaborative, and student-centred Music Department • Create a differentiated, highly motivating learning environment in which individual learners can thrive • Deliver a creative, innovative, and student-centred program • Employ a range of teaching pedagogies within an inquiry-based approach • Use a variety of assessment and evaluation approaches aligned with inquiry-based learning • Willingness to participate in extracurricular activities and contribute actively to the broader life of the School Minimum Qualifications, Experience & Skills • A recognized graduate qualification at the university level, with appropriate academic credentials demonstrating expertise in the discipline • A minimum of three years' teaching experience • Licensure with, or eligibility for licensure by, the Bermuda Educators Council • Minimum ABRSM Grade 8 (or equivalent) piano qualification is required • Ability to teach a second instrument is preferred • A reflective, lifelong learner committed to staying current with subject knowledge, pedagogy, and resources • A responsive practitioner able to adapt teaching strategies and learning experiences as needed • Highly professional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work positively with all stakeholders • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving school environment • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the Mission, Vision, and Strategic Vision of Saltus • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion, diplomacy, and tact • Commitment to student safeguarding, wellbeing, and child protection best practices • A positive presence within a collaborative school culture • Relevant student safety certifications (e.g., SCARS, First Aid/CPR/ AED) are required or must be obtained • A clean criminal record
