The Secondary Academic Resource Teacher works directly with students and collaborates with teachers to overcome learning barriers, develop individualized plans, and maintain confidential documentation, using strong interpersonal and digital skills. This position requires working with students in both one on one, small group and co-teaching situations; developing effective ways to intervene and overcome barriers to learning, and working with subject teachers to facilitate student success. The use of google education suite and the development of strong interpersonal skills are essential. Other responsibilities would include, but are not limited to the following: collaboration and liaison with ARD members, flexibility with time management, the development of Student Support Plans/IEPs; adapting materials/lessons to meet specific needs; collaborating with external service providers, teachers and parents; maintaining data and confidential documentation. This is an entry level position suitable for a candidate who recently earned their Masters in Special Education.

Requirements

Academic Resource Teacher must hold a Masters in Special Education (SEND). All prospective teachers should be able to integrate technology in the classroom and must either have, or meet the qualifications to obtain, a current Bermuda Teacher’s License.
