Pillar is currently recruiting an Actuarial Analyst, who will report to the Chief Reserving Actuary. The Actuarial Analyst will assist the Actuarial and Underwriting teams with pricing, reserving and other ad hoc tasks as may be required from time to time. The successful candidate will form part of a team of dynamic and entrepreneurial individuals ranging from reinsurance professionals to actuaries and portfolio managers with decades of underwriting experience. Duties & Responsibilities will include: Support the Bermuda underwriting team by performing various actuarial analyses, rating analyses, portfolio reviews and other related actuarial and underwriting tasks. Provide technical support in actuarial pricing, reserving, risk and capital modeling and other related actuarial processes. Support both the Chief Reserving Actuary and the Chief Actuary in reserving for all business written by Pillar. Assist with portfolio roll up and preparation of reports for senior management and investors Maintain existing pricing and portfolio management tools and update data/ parameters as required Assist with the development of new tools/ systems as necessary. Production and upkeep of relevant process and systems documentation Liaise with underwriters and senior management on portfolio reporting and projections. Assist with project management across the underwriting, modelling and actuarial functions. Assist with other ad hoc projects as requested. Minimum Skills, Qualifications & Experience: Associate or significant progress towards becoming an Associate of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society ('ACAS') or an equivalent professional body. Undergraduate degree in mathematics, actuarial sciences, computer sciences or a related field Preference will be given to candidates with 3 - 5 years of prior experience in the Property & Casualty insurance/ reinsurance industry. Experience with or working knowledge of industry catastrophe modeling software is desirable. Experience in building pricing and portfolio models and systems is desirable. Experience within capital markets, cat bonds, equity investments, and/or ILS transactions is preferred Ability to evaluate and review potential trades from an underwriting perspective Strong working knowledge in the Microsoft Office suite of tools, specifically with Excel, SQL and VBA. Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as there will be a high level of communication. Proven ability to prioritize, use initiative, multitask, work to deadlines, and work effectively in a team environment. Ability to work overtime is required from time to time. The successful candidate will be required to adhere to all aspects of the Pillar's code of conduct including but not limited to reporting of personal trading activity and social media monitoring. In addition, the successful candidate may be subject to periodic background and police checks.
