Our client, Markel, is seeking a talented and passionate Principal Software Engineer to join our IT - Cat Management team. We are looking for a hands on, technically capable, delivery focused leader who is committed to providing exceptional service. You will be a vocal advocate for agile and lean methods, a creative problem solver within a cross functional team, and someone who takes pride in maintaining systems at the highest operational standards. The Principal Software Engineer contributes to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of business systems and applications by providing specialized technical and business knowledge and mentorship to the team. Duties include installing, configuring, and supporting 3rd party Cat Modeling systems; designing, building and testing Cat Management systems; and providing technical direction on latest tools and technologies.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Five plus years experience in C# programming, administering and maintaining Windows and SQL Servers. Experience with Java, JavaScript, Delphi, Python, or similar. Experience with Microsoft HPC, Azure, and infrastructure operations. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and cloud deployment. Proven experience leading agile teams and mentoring others.
