Lancashire Insurance Company Limited, a member of the Lancashire Insurance Group, is seeking a Pricing Actuary to join our Underwriting team. The successful applicant will assist the Non-Marine and Specialty Treaty teams in the pricing and underwriting of complex risks to successfully execute their plans. The role involves technical case pricing, client/broker engagement, portfolio analysis, and as mutually agreed, the potential to develop underwriting authority. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: Day-to-day pricing of the Non-Marine and Specialty Treaty books of business. As mutually agreed, support the team with underwriting responsibilities including building industry relationships, interacting with brokers and clients and developing underwriting authority. Work alongside Underwriting and Actuarial to develop both existing and new pricing models to maintain competitive advantages and support corporate objectives. Perform regular and ad hoc portfolio management and optimization analysis. To act in accordance with all applicable Supervisory Bodies, principles, rules and regulations.
Requirements
Qualified actuary or significant progress toward qualification; Associate or equivalent. Minimum 5 years' experience in similar role with relevant property and/or specialty reinsurance pricing experience. London or Bermudian Reinsurance market experience, ideally with some experience in a client and/or broker facing role. Experience of building, maintaining and enhancing pricing models. Excellent IT skills, including MS Excel, VBA, MS Access, SQL, R, Power BI. Strong analytical, technical and presentational skills to enable the results of actuarial analysis and of actuarial methods to be effectively communicated to a non-actuarial audience. Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of the organisation and external stakeholders, including being able to explain risk issues in practical business language as well as in technical risk concepts. Strong relationship building and teaming skills. General understanding of insurance accounting and company financial statements. Strong work ethic and the ability to work extended hours including weekends during busy periods is required. Knowledge of HX, Tiger Eye or Analyze Re is desirable.
