The Pension Commission (the “Commission”) is Bermuda’s specialist regulatory authority for private occupational pension plans in Bermuda. Private pension plans are increasingly being relied upon by employees as a significant source of their retirement income. The Commission is charged under the National Pension Scheme (Occupational Pensions) Act 1998 (the “Act”) for protecting plan members benefits in such plans and enforcing the regulatory requirements under the Act. The Commission requires a Compliance Officer to assess the ongoing compliance and risk of pension plans and plan service providers in accordance with the National Pension Scheme (Occupational Pensions) Act 1998 and Regulations made thereunder, the Pension Trust Funds Act 1966 and the Commission’s policies, guidance notes and procedures. This a senior position where the successful candidate will play a critical role in the Commission’s compliance team, best suited for an individual with proven experience in a similar capacity.

Requirements

Applicants must have a university degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a financial services, regulatory, or compliance environment. Specialist qualifications and experience in compliance and enforcement are preferred. Ability to work independently and proactively influence the compliance and risk assessment process is essential. High level of written and verbal communication skills and effective interpersonal skills are also required.
