Reinsurance Finance Manager

Reporting into the Financial Controller, the Reinsurance Finance Manager will undertake the detailed review of the reinsurance bordereaux, performing all reconciliations and posting the entries to the general ledger. The successful candidate will also prepare summaries of the underwriting performance and present them to management. Key duties & responsibilities: • Reviewing reinsurance bordereau reporting for accuracy and consistency with contractual terms, including premium, claim, and commission activity • Recording reinsurance technical accounts to the ledger and performing account reconciliations to reinsurance bordereau activity • Analyzing financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement • Working closely with underwriting to ensure accurate financial reporting • Assisting with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations • Preparing and presenting underwriting reports to management and stakeholders Liaise with Treasury function to ensure premiums are received and claims are settled in a timely fashion and in accordance with contract terms Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • Qualified Accountant (CA, CPA, ACCA) with at least 5 years of experience working within insurance/reinsurance, with at least 3 years in a similar role CPCU, ACII or ARe designation is required • Experience with financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and reinsurance contracts is an advantage • An understanding of relevant Bermuda regulatory requirements and standards in addition to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP/IFRS), is necessary • Proficiency in accounting software (SAP, Sun or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) is essential. Knowledge of reinsurance systems and tools is a significant advantage • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial for interpreting financial data, identifying trends, and making informed decisions • Effective communication skills are required for collaborating with other team members
