Senior Compliance Specialist - Client Compliance (bermuda)

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Global Compliance, the successful candidate shall play a key role in advising Conyers Licensable businesses on how to meet and comply with its Customer Due diligence (CDD) and Ongoing Monitoring obligations under the related Anti-Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing (AML/ATF), and Sanctions Acts and Regulations, in line with Conyers global policies and procedures. This role requires exceptional communications and relationship management skills along with strong client centricity. As such, it will require subject matter expertise for key compliance activities. Legal Onboarding Provide guidance to clients, intermediaries, and relevant lawyers to collect the required CDD documentation for new clients, existing clients (where applicable), and complex structures, in accordance with a risk-based approach. Process requests from lawyers for Conyers to accept new legal matters, including the performance of AML/ATF, Sanctions, background checks, and Open-Source Intelligence Research on new and existing clients. Support the process for completing risk assessments of the client; communicating with necessary key stakeholder to ensure risk is managed appropriately. Assist with the audit and updating of Conyers' Compliance Program (including associated Policies, Procedures, Risk Assessments, Customer Onboarding and Ongoing Monitoring) on a periodic basis. Conduct research and data collection to complete data calls and other regulatory submissions. Client Services Assist the Bermuda Client Services teams with its obligations under ongoing monitoring and trigger events for client files. Conduct horizon scanning to identify and report on international standards, emerging technologies and compliance trends and typologies that may affect Conyers. Where necessary, collect and review of tax forms to ensure completion and information coincides with the client's CDD information (not to offer tax advice or classification service). Assist in ad-hoc projects outside the daily duties of the role as required.

Requirements

A minimum of five (5) years of compliance-related experience within the Financial Services, Legal or Regulatory Sectors. A professional Compliance qualification is required (i.e. ICA, CAMS). Working knowledge of Legal, Corporate and Trust Services operations and associated compliance requirements and its application. Proven experience in drafting Policies, Procedures, Risk Assessments and conducting Audits. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and proven experience building strong internal relationships. Strong problem solving, risk management and negotiation skills. Experience in conducting Open-Source intelligence research. Excellent organization and planning skills; be methodical, with keen attention to detail, and have the ability to deliver under pressure and on tight timescales. Proficient knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Reliable and self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
