Senior Investment Accountant

Lancashire Insurance Company Limited, a member of the Lancashire Insurance Group, is seeking a Senior Investment Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the LICL Chief Investment Officer, the successful candidate will work with the Investments and Treasury Team to meet the organizational requirements of the department including monthly and quarterly reporting, rating agency surveys and regulatory filing. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as the main contact for all investment accounting matters and inquiries Manage relationships with external service providers handling investment valuation and accounting Ensure accuracy and integrity of data in the investment accounting system Design and maintain strong internal controls for the Group's investment portfolios Prepare accounting memos in accordance with IFRS standards Prepare IFRS financial statements, disclosures, and regulatory filings across jurisdictions Provide investment-related inputs for financial supplements, audit committee reports, press releases, investor presentations, rating agency materials, and surveys Assist in compiling regulatory reports and submissions to rating agencies Contribute to executive and board-level presentations Lead internal and external audits for investment portfolios Review and submit investment and treasury-related invoices Support cash management and treasury operations Management of ad hoc projects as needed REQUIREMENTS A professional accounting (CA, CPA or ACA designation) qualification is essential. Possession of a CFA designation is a distinct advantage 5 years post qualification experience, specifically gained in an investment accounting or an insurance environment is strongly preferred In-depth current knowledge and experience of IFRS for cash and investment accounting is required Strong current knowledge of finance systems is required. Experience with Clearwater, Wdesk, and Great Plains systems is a distinct advantage Previous experience in a multi-currency environment would be a distinct advantage Must have excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on one's own initiative Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications with advanced skills in Excel is required Strong work ethic and the ability to work extended hours including weekends during busy periods is required Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to multitask while maintaining a high level of accuracy, professionalism and confidentiality is required Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required
