The Associate Director of Risk Management is a key leadership role responsible for the day-to-day management of the company's technical risk functions, including asset-liability management (ALM), investment risk, enterprise risk, and capital management. This role ensures the consistent application of risk disciplines, provides robust second-line oversight, and directly supports the CRO in monitoring the company's overall risk profile. Core Responsibilities ALM & Investment Risk Implement and enhance the strategic and tactical ALM framework to support the optimization of the firm's risk-adjusted return on capital. Execute second-line-of-defense oversight of the investment portfolio managed by third-party asset managers; monitor credit, duration, and liquidity risk against established limits. Conduct risk-based due diligence and ongoing monitoring of external asset managers. Prepare and analyze detailed ALM and investment risk reports for the CRO and relevant risk committees. Collaborate with the Actuarial and Finance teams to ensure a cohesive approach to balance sheet management. Enterprise & Operational Risk Administer and maintain the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, policies, and procedures. Manage the operational risk management program, including the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process and third-party risk management. Coordinate the aggregation of risk information from across the business to produce comprehensive risk reports, including the maintenance of the company's risk register. Support the process for identifying and assessing emerging risks that could impact the company's strategy. Capital Management Manage the application of the internal economic capital model used for day-to-day risk management and the annual CISSA filing. Support the model's development, validation, and documentation to ensure it remains fit for purpose. Run and calibrate the model to calculate regulatory and economic capital positions, performing stress and scenario testing to identify drivers of capital volatility. Synthesize insights from capital model results to provide data-driven recommendations for strategic decision-making. Qualifications and Skills 7+ years of progressive experience in risk management within the life and annuity insurance/reinsurance industry. Strong proficiency across at least two of the three core areas: ALM, enterprise risk management, or capital modeling. Professional designation such as FSA, FIA or CERA is required. Thorough understanding of the Bermuda regulatory regime and the BSCR framework. Technical expertise with actuarial/capital modeling platforms and ALM systems. Thorough understanding of the Bermuda regulatory regime and the BSCR framework. Technical expertise with actuarial/capital modeling platforms and ALM systems. Strong communication skills, with the ability to guide technical experts and present complex findings clearly to senior management. Must be able to relocate to Bermuda.Salary
