Chef De Partie, Meat Department

We are seeking a fully trained and qualified Chef with basic butchery skills to work in our Meat Department assisting with the preparation of meat and serving the general public. The Chef will be responsible for processing and preparing a high volume of fresh products from scratch for sale as directed by the Meat Department Manager. This is a hands-on position in a high volume seven days a week operation. Essential job functions include the following: Duties and Responsibilities Prepare products for retail sale and assist with receiving process, which requires heavy lifting Ability to build value added products from scratch Prepare marinated meats and ready-to-cook dishes Wrap, weigh, label and price cuts of meat, poultry, fish and cheese for sale Rotate products and assist with shelf stocking, facing and cleaning as needed Create sauces and marinades to complement our fresh meat program Provide a high level of prompt and friendly customer service Clean and sanitize work areas and adhere to Health & Safety standards Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned Available to work weekdays, weekends and some public holidays as required Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required Minimum of three to five years previous culinary experience as a Chef with basic butchery skills Valid certificate from a qualified culinary institution preferred Familiarity working in a high-volume production environment Knowledge of local and international cuisines, food preparation and presentation techniques Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills - fluent in English: speaking, reading and writing Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work well under pressure Exceptional work ethic, outgoing, enthusiastic and friendly disposition
