Nautilus Indemnity Limited, a Bermuda based captive insurance company, is seeking a highly motivated Claims Counsel. The role reports to the Senior Claims Counsel and General Counsel and is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring of claims, management of the Associate Claims Counsel and a team of administrators. The role involves regular interaction with assured firms and external counsel on complex coverage and claims management issues. Key responsibilities include assessing new claims, monitoring litigation strategy, determining reserving requirements, and reviewing claim payment requests. The candidate will also draft amendments to insurance contracts and support the General Counsel in commercial and contractual legal work.
Requirements
- Strong academic qualifications: 2:1 University Degree
- Qualified UK/Commonwealth lawyer (8-12 years' PQE)
- Experience dealing with complex insurance and reinsurance law issues
- Experience litigating and defending large and complex financial lines claims
- Multi-jurisdictional, high value, insurance claims experience
- Working knowledge of document review/e-discovery platforms
- Familiarity with data privacy requirements
- High degree of competence with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Willingness to travel when required
