Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Reinsurance Accountant will be an integral part of the Bermuda finance function, which supports Ascot’s Bermuda underwriting operations, comprising licensed reinsurance and holding companies. The post holder will assume primary responsibility for recording and reporting the day-to-day finance activities for the Bermuda licensed operating company. In addition, he/she will assist with the preparation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial information to support financial reporting to internal management and in order to meet external reporting requirements. Core responsibilities include assisting in completion of monthly and quarterly close, day-to-day accounting under US GAAP, ensuring completeness of re/insurance contracts, improving processes for complex transactions, and preparing management and statutory disclosures.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree plus an internationally recognised accounting qualification (CPA, CA, or equivalent); Minimum of 5 years' post-qualification experience; Minimum of 3 years' industry experience within a re/insurance company or regulator; Relevant Big 4 external audit experience; Proficient knowledge of US GAAP for property and casualty re/insurance; Knowledge of multi-currency accounting; Familiarity with Bermuda, UK, Lloyd’s, and US regulatory regimes including Economic Balance Sheet concepts; Experience with SUN systems and Phinsys preferred.
