The Senior Insurance Accountant will report to the Financial Controller and will be responsible for managing a wide range of financial and management reporting requirements of the Group’s Bermuda-based insurance company and specialty lines insurance managing general underwriting agency. The successful applicant will be highly motivated, technically inclined and have excellent inter-personal and organizational skills and a proven ability to deliver results within teams in high-pressure environments. Key Duties and Responsibilities: • Responsibility for timely and accurate reporting of the technical underwriting results; • Oversight of teams at a 3rd party service provider including verifying the completeness and accuracy of financial information provided by these teams; • Ensure the Agency’s monthly bordereaux reporting schedule is adhered to; • Reviewing monthly accounting working paper files, including analytical review; • Involvement with the preparation of US GAAP Financial Statements and statutory reporting; • Active management and monitoring of receivables balances ensuring amounts due are collected timeously; • Oversight of accounts receivable team, with regular interaction with stakeholders to resolve any queries; • Ensure compliance with SOX and internal controls; • Meeting the requirements of internal and external audits; and • Other ad-hoc projects as required.

Requirements

An internationally recognized accounting qualification (e.g. CA, ACCA or CPA) with at least 5 years post qualification experience with exposure to the insurance/reinsurance industry; • Practical experience of working with US GAAP and knowledge of the Bermuda statutory requirements; • Working knowledge of an Agency, including bordereaux, reinsurance and taxes; • Experience and understanding of general ledger systems and underwriting systems; • Advanced computer literacy skills, including PowerPoint, Microsoft Word and Excel; • Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills with an ability to work with all levels of management together with a track record as a team player; • A proven ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and respond to changing priorities.
